Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM; Saturday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Salary: $70,000 - $100,000
Job Description:
Responsible for providing strategic oversight and management of critical functions and personnel within the Operations Team. This role encompasses supervision of Air Export, Air Import, Dispatch, Transportation, Drivers, Warehouse, and Packaging Teams. Strong people management skills and client-facing experience are crucial. Additional responsibilities include contract negotiations, quality compliance, client relationship management, key account oversight, vendor management, operational excellence, and optimization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee both strategic and day-to-day operations, managing the logistics teams to ensure exceptional service delivery. Work in close partnership with peers and the regional management team to drive process improvements and operational change. Provide clear leadership, motivate teams toward high performance, and assist in developing strategies for global efficiency and harmonization. This role reports directly to the General Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Foster an environment where company controls, policies, procedures, tools, and systems are well-understood and consistently implemented.
- Manage departmental P&L, optimizing costs.
- Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
- Communicate effectively, collaborate, and implement organizational changes.
- Ensure completion of employee training with a target of 100%.
- Evaluate and reward employees based on performance, addressing challenges proactively.
- Partner with employees to address capacity and efficiency concerns.
- Lead and support initiatives aimed at operational excellence, process improvements, and commitment to quality.
- Utilize analytics and observations to improve performance, communicating actionable insights to benefit employees, customers, and finances.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with direct reports, vendors, and the global network.
- Collaborate with the GM to identify and address areas for quality, service, compliance, and profitability improvements, utilizing process mapping, timing studies, and self-assessment methods.
- Support local solutions that enhance efficiency and visibility in line with global standards.
- Promote full and efficient use of existing systems and tools.
- Present new processes, strategies, and performance expectations to the GM, particularly with new systems and process rollouts.
- Guide the team in root cause analysis and effective problem-solving for corrective and preventive actions.
- Use quantitative and qualitative analysis for process improvement, mapping processes to identify areas for increased efficiency.
- Foster a lean-thinking culture, inspiring and guiding the team through effective training and strong presentation skills. Adaptable to change and proactive in problem-solving.
- Address resistance positively, promoting a continuous improvement mindset focused on customer service and employee experience.
- Act as lead investigator for root cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness checks.
- Manage CAPA processes, suggesting robust Corrective and Preventative Actions.
- Define and execute training to improve procedural understanding and quality compliance.
- Work with the Vendors and Logistics Service Providers on investigations and CAPA processes.
- Lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives with the operational excellence team.
- Support the operations with data collection and calculations.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in PC and analytical tools, including Microsoft Office, Power BI, Cargo Wise, and SharePoint.
- Strong understanding of Lean principles, with expertise in process mapping, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate effectively to employees at all levels.
- Competence in team, self, and project management.
- Expertise in cold chain logistics and transportation.
- Experience in customer-facing roles and contract management.
- Familiarity with GMP, GDP, and GDocP guidelines is preferred.
